We kicked off the campaign this week with the help of Deputy Shane Ross.
He took time out of his busy schedule to meet me at Knocklyon Shopping Centre on Monday to chat to constituents about the campaign.
It means a lot to have his backing for the Local Elections in May as the people we met all appreciate the sterling work Shane is doing to shine a light on the corruption, cronyism and wanton waste at the heart of this government.
And they were delighted to hear that – as a volunteer for Shane over the past number of years – that’s the commitment I will bring to local government level.
So many members of the ‘Squeezed Middle’, those hit hardest by this recession, have lost faith in the political system.
And given what we have seen just this past week, it’s easy to understand why.
But speaking to members of the ‘Squeezed Middle’ on Monday, they now have hope because they have an alternative.
A vote for me in May means they will finally have a voice, someone who understands the devastation felt by families in our Community, someone like them, someone committed to change and real representation.
So, if you are happy with the waste at Irish Water, believe that the Poolbeg Incinerator cash has been well spent and that the Board of Management at the CRC are marvelous, then keep voting for the politicians who keep screwing you over.
But if you want change, common sense and real representation, please vote for me.
